Imperfektly perfekt: My DIYs
I hope to share all my DIY projects with others, inspire creativity and encourage sharing. I love to sew, build, paint, draw, basically anything crafty. When I look around my home or at my children and see something I have created, I get an extreme sense of pride and satisfaction.

Applique wall art.
I know it has been a while BUT I have some really cute stuff today!! So my friend Alissa is due in 5 weeks and all the bedding is finally finished (I will post pics when I get them), and Alissa decided she wanted wall appliques, so I drove the three hours to her house to finish recovering the bassinet and make some wall appliques. She chose a giraffe, a rhino, a toucan, a tree frog, elephants, a zebra, a lion and a tiger. Once she was certain these were the animals she wanted we began the search for the perfect look. When she found the ones she wanted I drew them and then we blew them up to make them the sizes she needed. She picked up a bunch of cheap picture frames in various sizes from the thrift store and is planning to use them to stretch the appliques over, so she will be able to get the "canvas" look. So far we have the lion, the rhino, and the zebra done and I must say they are adorable!!! I will post the rest as we finish them!!! What do you think so far??

so much to do so little time!!
Okay so my mother, sister, two nieces and a friend of theirs will be here tomorrow evening. They are driving from Oregon and started their trip this morning at 6 o'clock. My house is still a mess and I am trying to get my daughters birthday gifts finished before they get here because I know they wont get done while they are here. They aren't heading back until the 23rd I believe, (sorry if I am wrong mom too much on the brain) and my baby's 2nd birthday is on the 27th. I almost have one gift finished but I have two more to build and a lot of felt food to make. On top of that, I am really feeling like fall is upon us and I need to get my daughter's bedding finished so she will be warm when winter takes over. I have been working on her quilt for about a month on and off and it is not very detailed so I have no excuse as to why it is not finished already but I am almost done with it. I still have pillow cases, and decorative pillows to make but they may have to wait for the winter months when I get snowed in :)
Enough about that, like I said I have been working on my daughter's birthday gifts and one of them is almost done......I am sooo happy with how it came out and I am planning on putting a real working clock on it!!! Well its late here so I must get to bed, but let me know what you think!!
This is the quilt I have been working on forever (or so it seems).
I'm going to put the clock in the pink block. I cant wait to get it finished.
I know, I know, I said its a birthday present but shes only two she doesn't know the difference.
Not even finished and she loves it already!!!
Happy baby!!

Monkeys, monkeys and more monkeys
My latest project has got me going bananas, literally!!! I am helping a friends make crib bedding and a twin sized comforter to match for her newest addition due December 1st!!! Here is what we have done today!!
Momma-to-be cutting out monkey snout.
16 monkey bodies, 16 pairs of eyes and 16 monkey mouths
Monkey bellies, foreheads and ears
Monkeys will look like this when we get them done!!! Sooo in love with them :)
Yellow monkey panel
Green dots monkey panel
Blue monkey panel
The momma-to-be fray checking the monkeys before I zigzag stitch them to the panels.
Various monkey parts. I will keep you updated as we go so keep checking back!!
These little guys are still coming along. At this point we had to stop and move the operation three hrs west to my friends house. Unfortunately I had to come home so she is continuing to work away. I cant wait to see how much progress she has made by the time I head back over in October.
Coming together only 14 more to go!!

The journey from pile of flannel to cute kimono top pjs
These reversible kimono pajamas are cozy and cute!! They took me about 2 hrs from start to finish!! I made my own pattern from construction paper and measured my little princess twice before I cut anything. They turned out so cute and they will be perfect for the cold Minnesota winters!! I will altering the ballet slipper pattern I got from Jeni @ http://jensidea.blogspot.com/2011/07/ruby-red-slippers.html to make some warm slippers to go with, I will post them when I get them finished :-) Happy creating!!
Princess wall art
Okay so here we have some of wall art created in about an hr using you guessed it, contact paper!!! I love the fact that I can peel it off and stick it somewhere else if and when I decide to move her furniture around. I love the look of the imperfect crown and scroll work. In fact this was the inspiration for the name of my blog, Imperfektly Perfekt! I hand painted it all onto contact paper, cut it out, removed the backing and pressed it to the wall. It was super easy and again exactly what I was looking for. All together this project only cost about $4.
Toddler bed fit for a princess
My little girl was growing out of her crib and we didn't want to pay the $70 dollars it was going to take just to get the conversion kit to toddler (which consists of two boards that match the finish of the crib and will only last at most a yr before we would have to go to a twin). That is when I started designing this bed. I knew I wanted an upholstered headboard and I wanted rails on the sides. Here it is almost finished!!! I love to go into her room and gathering more inspiration for wall art, by looking at her bed. The HUGE bonus is, she loves her new bed!! The bed took me a day to build and has taken me about two weeks to upholster, but that's just because I have a toddler. I would estimate the total cost including wood, screws, fabric and foam batting to be around $100. Not bad when you consider I got exactly what I wanted!! The next project which is already in the works is her bedding, which will perfectly match her headboard. I also created some wall art this morning in about an hr that is so cute and goes perfectly with her theme, PRINCESS!! I will be sharing that shortly in a separate post, so stay tuned!!
